The Mud Control system is a standalone control system for the mud mixing system and bulk storage systems.
It consist of:
- 1 each PLC Cabinet, Coated, Safe Area
- 6 Remote I/O Panels, 2 each Coated Safe Area, 4 each Stainless Steel, Safe Area
- 1 MCC for frequency controlled motors
- Operator Stations, 3 each Desktop Computer(s) (24" Dual Screen) and 1 each EX Zone 1 Area enclosure w ith touch screen (24")
- 1 TP for Mud Additive Unit
- 1 Heave & Tilt Panels
The PLC, a Simatic S7-400 has the following communication links: Profibus-DP, Ethernet, Fiber
The MCS controls the following processes/systems:
- Surge Tank discharge (dosing) to mixer
- Big Bag Unit
- Control of bentonite/barite bulk handling
- Control of cement bulk handling (Discharge from the cement surge tank by Cement Unit Vendor)
- Control of line purge valves and tank valves on bulk air system
- Control of L.P. mud handling and instrumentation'
- Control of agitators and pumps in L.P. mud systems (mixing and mud process)'
- Control of shakers and mud process equipment.
- Control of agitators, valves and pumps on brine, base oil and mud storage system
