347-BC100 - Catwalk Machine
2017
Available
The Catwalk Machine (CWM) consists of the following:
- Support structure
The catwalk machine support structure is a horizontal structure for the skate to run on. The support structure rests on 5 skidding beams which are clamped to the rails on main deck. When loosening the clamps the system can be skidded fwd/aft.
- Skate
The skate has wheels for running along rails on the support structure and moon-pool door. The travel is provided by rack and pinion drive. The hydraulic gear motor has a failsafe brake for locking the skate in any position also when failure in the hydraulic supply.
- Trolley
The Trolley is a wagon with a Cradle that runs on wheels inside and the full length of the Skate and can be used for both running in and out drill pipe, collars and casing.
- Pipe lifter/divider
The pipe lifter/divider has two functions and is built into the skate floor along the center line. The divider is used to rearrange and nudge the pipe when centralizing pipes together with the side pushers. The pipe lifter lifts the tubular off the upper trolley and lay the pipes down into the skate, allowing several pipes to be laid down when the skate is at well center before returning the CWM to pipe-deck for lifting the tubular out.
- Side-pushers
Two pairs of side pushers built into the skate side flanges. They are used to push tubular sideways inside the skate in order to position a single tubular in skate centre.
- Tilt ramp
The tilt ramp is built in front of skate and is used for lifting one single tubular or stand up for easy connection and disconnection to the hoisting arrangement. The tilt-ramp has a lifting height of approx two meters.
- Control Console
By a portable, radio remote control panel.
- Pipe Tail-in arm (PTA)
The PTA is a compact and steady arm designed to guide pipe-pin into a pipe ‘stick-up’ box. The easy adjustable end stop system provides handling of diameters of 2 7/8” – 36” without any replacement of tools. Connections between PTA and CWM are quick couplings for instrumentation and hydraulics, and 6 bolts for pedestal.
The PTA consists of the following:
Single Arm | The single arm on the pedestal is tilted by a cylinder. |
PTA Roller | The roller is made out of wear resistant Polyamid (PA6) and hydraulic operated. Its function is to guide and centre the pipe. |
PTA Trap | A plastic coated, spring loaded and hydraulic operated trap is used for locking the pipe to the roller. |
Telescopic Arm | A hydraulic operated telescopic arm can be used for easy adjustment between dimensions of pipes to center pipe right above stick-up. |
